Tips for Training with Treats
.The treats must be extra tasty, saved specifically for training sessions--Three Cheers Jerky is perfect!

.The treats must be small enough that the dog can swallow them quickly without much chewing.

.The trainer must be generous with the treats, consistently rewarding the desired behaviors.

.If the dog can’t understand what the trainer wants, the behavior should be broken down into simple steps—each small step should be rewarded.

.“Jackpots” (giving a lot of treats at once) are great when the dog is really being brilliant!

.Try the clicker (click and treat). It is a perfect reinforcement marker.

.Think of treats as payment for your dogs efforts. YOU don’t like to work for free!

.Enjoy your dog— make sure both of you are having wonderful time.
